REGISTRATION POLICIES
GCSU Procedures:
Continuing students may register for the upcoming term on line from their myCATS account during the dates published in the University Calendar. Registration for the Spring semester usually begins at the end of October; registration for the Summer and Fall terms usually begins in March. Students may not register if they have holds on their record that block them from registering.
Continuing students should take responsibility for their own registration and for their own schedules. Advisors should not perform registration, add, or drop functions for continuing students, except under unique or extraordinary circumstances. Additional information on registration processes is available at the Registrar's Office Web Site.
POUNCE is GCSU's registration process for all newly admitted freshmen who matriculate in the Fall semester. Through POUNCE, students submit course preferences and academic information via an online form. An advisor then uses that information to register the student for Fall courses. POUNCE begins in February and continues through the summer semester. Incoming students receive POUNCE instructions and information via U.S. mail after they submit a confirmation deposit.
INTRO is GCSU's registration process for newly admitted transfer students. Through INTRO, students submit academic information via an online form, which is then forwarded to the student's department office. Each department implements different procedures for registering these students, based on the needs of the department and its students. Incoming transfer students receive information about INTRO after being fully accepted for an upcoming term.
Currently enrolled students and new and returning fully accepted students, without holds, may register for the upcoming term online at paws.gcsu.edu Online registration instructions, including information on viewing holds, are available on the PAWS info page at paws.gcsu.edu Click on 'Student Web Registration Instructions'. See the university calendar for designated registration dates.
Currently enrolled students and new and returning fully accepted students, with holds, may register for the upcoming term by meeting with their adviser or through Office of the Registrar with a signed Schedule Planning Sheet during the designated Schedule Planning and Registration period each term. Each adviser will post a list of available times on the office door, and students are expected to keep these appointments. See the university calendar for designated registration dates.
New, returning, and currently enrolled students who do not take advantage of the Schedule Planning and Registration period will register for classes during late registration.
