Section 10.01.01 - PURPOSE
To assure to the best of our abilities, the protection and preservation of life and property from criminal acts and physical hazards; increase awareness of safety issues and encourage public participation in daily crime prevention efforts; provide the resources and information necessary for assisting citizens under special circumstances; hold personnel responsible for their own standard of professional performance and take every reasonable opportunity to enhance and improve their knowledge and competence.
Section 10.01.02 - REPORTING OF MISSING/STOLEN ITEMS
1. Contact the Department of Public Safety in Miller Hall to file a report. Information requested will include a detailed description of the item missing/stolen, as well as any serial or identification number, if available.
2. The Department of Public Safety will perform an investigation of the reported incident. A copy of the report will be made available, if requested, for filing insurance.
Section 10.01.03 - REQUEST FOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING BUILDING/ROOM
Public Safety will lock or unlock specific doors outside of our normal schedule upon request from an authorized faculty or staff member. Requests for this service should be made to Public Safety via email or telephone at least 24 hours in advance of the requested service. Contacting Public Safety for opening or securing a facility that has been reserved through GCSU Space Reservations (R25) is not necessary. Public Safety will receive specific instructions through R25 for the opening and securing of facilities that have been reserved.
