MEDIA PRODUCTION RESOURCES

Media Production Resources offers a wide array of services to GCSU students, faculty, staff and administrators. Audio Visual Support Services, The Campus Satellite and Cable Programming System and University Television's Broadcast and Video Production Facilities are all located in Atkinson Hall on the front campus of GCSU.

TV: University Television offers a wide array of video production services and cable programming to GCSU students, faculty, staff and administrators. Located in Atkinson Hall on the front campus, UTV offers several job opportunities to students interested in video production through the federal and college work-study programs, faculty advised class projects and with the Mass Communications practicum program.
UTV is responsible for all high image projects and special campus events intended for external audiences or the University Archives. The two camera television studio in Atkinson Hall is reserved for faculty to assist their students with class projects and programming for broadcast on one of our cable channels. The studio is booked and scheduled by MPR/UTV staff at the beginning of each semester.
University Television is equipped to make copies of unrestricted videotapes for faculty, staff and students. VHS, SVHS, Mini DV, DV, and DCVPro formats are available for duplication to standard VHS. Several International Multi Standard VHS formats are available for duplication on a limited basis. Tapes that are copyrighted cannot be duplicated without written permission from the owner of the program. All supplies are charged backed to the departments at state costs. Call the studio at 445-2952 for bookings and for more information.

AV: Audio Visual services are offered to the main campus for official university events. We have a limited number of small portable public address systems with two microphones and a CD player, several portable projectors with screens and TV's with DVD players. Most of our public auditoriums and large classes are equipped with permanent audio visual systems. The university has many public rooms available for events with many events occurring simultaneously. At times, all of the available equipment is in use and we are unable to provide services. The best way to ensure your AV needs are accommodated is to contact the AV office well in advance of your event. Call the AV Office for more information at 445-0532.

Satellite and Cable: Auxiliary Services, University Housing and the GCSU LLC have recently signed a five year cable TV agreement with College Cable Services of Lexington, Kentucky to provide all cable TV services and programming to residence halls and academic and administrative buildings on the Milledgeville Campus.
The cable headend is located at MPR/UTVs Atkinson Television facilities.
CCS' Direct TV satellite system currently provides over 80 channels of programming to the campus. In addition, UTV has the capability to insert live teleconferences, educational programs, video and DVD playback and special event announcements on three internal campus cable channels. MBC TV-4 is also managed and operated by University Television and provides current event information for the city and campus as well as additional governmental and educational programming. Call the TV Studio for more information at 445-2952.
