DEGREE INFORMATION (UPS)
Two sections of information must be entered for each degree program offered: its mission and its goals and outcomes. While related to and supportive of the mission and goals of the department, the program mission and goals should differ from those of the department. The degree information should be specific to the program and focused on student learning.
The mission of the degree program – this may be changed, but will probably stay relatively constant.
The goals and outcomes of the degree program – these may be changed, but may change little from year to year.
The outcomes for a degree program the performance competencies that should be evident in students graduating with the degree. These degreeprogram outcomes should motivate the curriculum, in that courses are developed to pursue specific desired competencies.
The annual assessment process of the APR system is also based on the degree program (see 3.05.02.1).
Departments are encouraged to consider the stated goals and outcomes for their degree programs and to revise them as they see fit, as part of their continuous pursuit of improvement.
The faculty information may be entered by anyone using the department chair's password, but the department chair is responsible for its accuracy.
Changes to the degree information should be entered in October, at the close of the annual assessment loop.
