CPR REVIEW CYCLES

All programs must undergo comprehensive program review (CPR) according to BOR guidelines. Undergraduate programs must be reviewed every seven years or on their accreditation cycle, but in no case may an undergraduate program exceed ten years between reviews. Graduate programs must be reviewed every ten years or on their accreditation cycle, but in no case can a program exceed ten years between reviews. All new programs must be reviewed within seven years. Every effort is made to allow programs that are externally accredited to coordinate their CPR cycle with their accreditation cycle, but accreditation reports cannot be used to substitute for required CPRs that meet the guidelines of the Board of Regents and GCSU.

Programs may be triggered for early CPR review if they fall below viability (enrollment) or productivity (graduates) thresholds. Triggered early reviews must still be full comprehensive reviews of the program. Programs asked to complete an early review due to triggered reports may not need to be reviewed again on the normal schedule unless the department wishes to in order to remain synchronized with an accreditation review schedule or the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs requests it.

Comprehensive Program Review is review of degree programs, not the departments that deliver the degrees. While policies, resources, and faculty of the department may be relevant as inputs into the program, the focus should always be on assessment of the program to improve effectiveness.
