CONSULTING, FOR COMPENSATION
Policy: Board of Regents Policy Manual, 8.2.15.2 http://www.usg.edu/policymanual/section8/
GCSU Procedure: Academic Affairs Handbook Forms, http://info.gcsu.edu/intranet/acad_affairs/forms/
Faculty should use an Academic Affairs Handbook Form to obtain prior written approval of all personal consulting, for compensation, from their department chair and dean. The Associate Vice President for Extended University is given the responsibility of maintaining university-wide records regarding outside consulting. All faculty and staff should familiarize themselves with the Regents' policy on consultancy as cited in section 2.06 of this handbook.
Un-reimbursed consultancy is not included in this process and does not require these forms. In order for the faculty member who is providing un-reimbursed consultancy to receive proper credit, it should be reported on the annual Individual Faculty Report form prepared for department chairs each year.
