Hardy Architectural Class PapersProcessed by Tammy Wyatt
Abstract
Note on Arrangement
The papers arrived in the University Archives in a box, somewhat disorganized. About half of the papers were arranged chronologically by the date submitted to the professor. The other papers were jumbled in the bottom of the box. In keeping with the organized portion of the collection, the papers were arranged chronologically. Those papers without dates were placed at the end of the collection, arranged alphabetically by paper title. Dr. Hardy's office files were separated into a different series called Hardy Papers and are arranged alphabetically. Many of the photos, diagrams, sketches, and blueprints contained in the papers were glued or taped to individual pages, and could not be removed without damaging the paper. Leaflet pages were inserted to protect the surrounding pages from further damage. When possible, these items were removed and filed separately; relocation pages were inserted to note removal and new location of each item. Scope & Content
The majority of the papers provide information on architecture in Milledgeville and several rural areas of Georgia. A couple of papers address broader comparisons of architecture. More information on Milledgeville historic structures and furnishings can be found in books and vertical files housed in Special Collections.
