Building Photograph CollectionAbstractThe photographs in the Building Photograph Collection date from the late 1800's to the late 1980's. The origins of these photos are unknown, as such, they are assembled as an artificial collection. It is presumed that most of them would have been taken by the University Photographer. Most of the major university buildings are represented in the collection, including buildings that have been demolished to make way for new ones such as Chappell Hall and Parkhurst. Note on ArrangementThe photographs were originally unordered. To make them easier to identify and use, they have been arranged alphabetically by the name of the building. Scope and ContentThe collection comprises one cubic feet of photographs. The early photographs are on card stock paper, while the more recent photos are on glossy photo paper. Nearly all of the photos are black and white, with only photos from 1987 in color. Some of the photos detail the construction or demolition of all or part of university buildings, including groundbreaking ceremonies. Bulks of the collection relates to the Old Governor's Mansion and Russell Library. More photos of buildings, groundbreakings, and dedications may be found in the Public Relations files. Box List |
