      Subject Databases

    • Alt-Health Watch Galileo Full-text database covering complementary, holistic, and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. Content comes from more than 160 international peer-reviewed and professional journals, magazines, reports, proceedings, and association and consumer newsletters, plus hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research, and book excerpts. 1990 to present.
    • CINAHL with Full Text Galileo Index to over 800 nursing and allied health journals, publications of the American Nurses Association and the National League for Nursing, nursing dissertations, and selected other biomedical journals. 1982 to present.
    • ERIC Galileo Database covering education and educational research, with both abstracts of published and unpublished sources on thousands of educational topics. 1966 to the present. From 1996 to present, the library has a subscription to the online set of accompanying documents. For earlier years, our library has the accompanying microfiche set of documents. For most records with an ED number, we should have the full-text either online or on microfiche. For records with an EJ number, use the journal locator to determine if we have access to the journal.
    • Health Source: Academic Edition Galileo Full-text database of around 520 scholarly full-text journals focusing on nursing, allied health fields, and many medical disciplines as well as abstracts and indexing for over 550 journals. Also included are the USP Pharmacopoeia DI: Volume II Advice for the Lay Patient and Stedman's Medical Dictionary. 1990 to present.
    • Medline with Full-Text Galileo Full-text and abstracts of medical literature. National Library of Medicine database.
    • PsycARTICLES Galileo Full-text of psychology journals published by the American Psychological Association, Canadian Psychological Association, and Hogrefe & Huber. Coverage: 1999 to present.
    • Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection Galileo Full-text of 470 full-text journals, covering subjects such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. Coverage: Full-text is 1990 to present.
    • Multi-disciplinary Databases

    • Academic Search Complete Galileo Full-text database covering many topics and disciplines, including music therapy.
    • Research Library GalileoFull-text database covering many topics and disciplines, including music therapy.
    • JSTOR Galileo
    • JSTOR is a Full-test archive which provides the full-run of a journal title from the first issue. JSTOR DOES NOT provide access to the current issues of a journal. Usually the current five years are not available.
    • Project Muse Galileo
    • Project Muse provides full-text access to over 300 journals from scholarly publishers.

      The Journal Locator is available as a link on the Library's home page. You can use the Journal Locator to see if a Journal title is available online or in the Library.

      In the example shown above, the last two titles are available online for certain dates. You can click on the database name to search for an article. The first two titles are available in the Library. Click on 'GCSU Library Periodicals' to see if we have the date you need.

      If the article you need is not available online or in the Library you can request it using Interlibrary Loan.

    Books

      Most Music Therapy books can be found on the Third Floor with the Call Number beginning with ML 3920s Use GIL to find books. GIL is the web based electronic library catalog located at http://gil.gcsu.edu. You can access GIL from any computer with an Internet connection.

      Librarians can catalog books in the Health Sciences according to the Library of Congress classification system or MeSH, the Medical Subject Heading classification system. GCSU's library catalog reflects both systems.

      For instance, using "Music Therapy" as a subject heading search GIL retrieves the following:
