    GIL logo
GIL, GALILEO Interconnected Libraries, is an initiative of the University System of Georgia (USG), the General Assembly, and the Office of the Governor designed to create a standardized library catalog for all USG schools. When the initiative is completed in 2001, USG libraries will have a union catalog that uses a standard search interface, isaccessible from anywhere via the World-Wide-Web, and a patron database that will support universal borrowing between all USG schools. For more information try the GALILEO Interconnected Libraries project web pages; they provide a good introduction to the GIL project.
Note: GIL uses software called Voyager or Web Voyager. In some of the help pages GIL is referred to as Voyager. The two terms are synonymous.
